Animal Silhouette Collages
Students wrote 10 words describing the animal they chose. The list consisted of names for the animal and character traits. Next, they gathered strips of magazines to glue into a collage on a piece of paper. Students used a template for their animal to trace onto the collage and cut out. They glued their animal collage to construction paper, cut out letters to create at least one word on their work of art, and lastly, outlined everything.

Contour Leaf Rubbings
Students used real leaves to create leaf rubbings. They chose a leaf to place underneath white computer paper. While holding the leaf down, students used the side of crayons (3+ colors) to rub over the paper. A leaf will appear- the outline and details. Once finished with the rubbing, students cut out the leaf paying close attention to the unique edge and leaving a little white border. Lastly, they glued their leaf onto construction paper and created repeated contour outlines filling up the page.
